Accessibility
General standards
This web site conforms to W3C standards for XHTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
Accessibility standards
This site also meets W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. Priority 2.
Web accessibility involves making web pages accessible to a wide range of users and is particularly important for museums as they aim to be inclusive institutions.
Some users may have disabilities such as visual impairments and be using special technologies, for example screen readers, to help them interpret information on web pages. However, developing an accessible web site can benefit all users. Other groups directly benefiting from accessible web pages include older users, non-native speakers of the language, users with older technologies or a slower band-width connection and novice users of the Internet.
